RisingStar: Demand for TV panels in 2022 is warming up

Peng Shuanglang, chairman of panel manufacturer RisingStar, said recently that the decline in TV panel prices in November has indeed converged a lot. After the previous price has accelerated to catch up with the bottom, and driven by the peak season demand at the end of the year, brand manufacturers have begun to replenish inventory, which also reflects that TV demand has fallen back. Wen, relatively optimistic about the TV panel market.

Regarding the decline in TV panel prices in November, Peng Shuanglang pointed out that after rising for 17 and 18 months in a row, TV panel prices began to show a large decline in July and August this year, which has the taste of accelerating to catch up with the bottom, and the decline in November The reasons for the convergence include that the previous price has accelerated to catch up with the bottom, and the sales of Double Eleven TVs have increased by more than 10% compared with the same period last year.

RisingStar said that this year's Double Eleven TV prices did not reflect too many panel price declines, but terminal demand is strong, regardless of price and volume, and recently entered the peak sales season in Europe and the United States, brand manufacturers have begun to replenish inventory, if the Port of Cypriot problem ends, or The inventory of brand factories is quickly depleted, and demand is expected to pick up quickly.

RisingStar also said that the panel utilization rate has always remained high-end. Even if the price of TV panels changes, customers have long-term commitments that do not have much impact. In addition, the fourth and first quarters are traditional off-seasons, and annual repairs and new product development will be carried out. Use up some capacity.

Looking forward to next year, Peng Shuanglang pointed out that TV demand has recently fallen back to the bottom, and shipments are expected to remain flat next year. However, it is moving towards larger sizes. During the Double Eleven period, sales of 65-inch and 75-inch TVs have increased significantly, showing that the public is very satisfied. Increasing acceptance of large sizes, coupled with affordable prices, has boosted demand.

According to RisingStar, the demand for commercial panels is strong this year, and it is expected to be very prosperous next year. RisingStar has launched many commercial and industrial value-added products, which will see substantial growth next year; on the other hand, consumer products such as laptops or displays are affected by epidemic variables and inflation. Due to the influence of two factors, the market views are more divergent.

RisingStar believes that from this year on, the operating performance of panel makers will be different. If manufacturers focus on consumer products, they will be more affected by market fluctuations. RisingStar itself has a low proportion of standard products and consumer products and pursues a small number of diverse customers. The value-added products of the system accounted for only 21% of TV revenue in the third quarter, and they will also be adjusted dynamically according to market demand.

As for the semiconductor shortage, Peng Shuanglang said that although the seasonal adjustment has eased slightly, it still cannot be completely resolved. Due to the increased demand for 5G and electric vehicles, the demand for mature processes is still very strong, and it is expected that the shortage will be solved. The problem, it will take a long time.
